London's Fickle Lovers
Fickle brides and bridegrooms have contributed very largely to the number of marriage cancellations in civil offices in London which during the past few months has reached a record. More than 1200 marriages have been cancelled after licenses have boon obtained and appointments made for the ceremony. “This cancellation record can bo attributed in only a small degree to the general economic depression," a West End registrar said recently. “The figures show that lovers have been more fickle than in other years. In this office alono the number of marriages arranged and then cancelled because the parties could not agree, generally on a trifling matter, constitutes a post-war record.’’
