Cricket Association Discusses Club Dues

PAYMENT NOT RELIABLE. There was a fair attendance of delegates at a special general meeting or tiio Manawatu Cricket Association. Mr. VV. G. Miller, the chairman, explained it had been called to discuss, before the annual meetings of the various clubs were held, ways and means of improving the collection of affiliation and ground fees due each year to the association. In the past he said, there had always been extremo difficulty in collecting tlieso lees, and at tlie end of eacii financial year it was found necessary to exert pressure in order to collect in time to inciude the items in the balauce-slicot. Persons outsido tno management committee had no idea what worry this position caused tho executive, and it would bo glad to see some new method instituted whereby • the association's source of revenue could be more reliable

After a general discussion, in winch several systems were suggested, it was decided that it be a recommendation to the incoming management committee that, instead of the annual affiliation and ground fees charged the clubs, that a flat rate of Is per player per playing day .bo collected, the collection Mroni each player to be left in the hands of tho captain of each team who is to be responsible for tho payment to the treasurer of the association.

The secretary was instructed to write to tho various clubs asking them for a list of defaulters in connection with’ last year’s subscriptions,' as it was understood that some' players 'have been in tho habit of changing their club each season, without paying their subscriptions, and thus' avoiding their obligations.

The hope was expressed that clubs would discuss this matter at annual meetings, so that delegates would be in a position to express opinions at tho annual general' meeting of the associa-* tioiu
