Many scrambled out of windows, down the 'fire escape, and on to the roof. Captain Lancaster, who came to hear her'lecture, and was staying overnight before flying to New York, was awakened by smoke on a lower floor, and escaped in his underclothes after vainly working the fire extinguishers, and helping other guests to safety. Mrs. Keith Miller and Captain Lancaster w'ere not hurt. The whole town considers her a heroine in averting loss of life by her quick wit and bravery.
