The-Boxing Champions
' WARNE’S CHANCES FOR THE OLYMPIAD. To tho Editor. Sir, —In yesterday’s issue of your paper it was pubiisned tnat, through Official circles xt. ' Thomas, \* einngTou (light-weight) and B. nowc, Uiago (wcA'cr). are practically certainties lor tile. New Zealand boxing team for Olympic Games. In lanuess to our local reps., 1. would like, tnrough your columns, to suggest tnat C. w allie s nomination be given serious consideration, on the following grounds: VYarno is a grown man lighting in a youth’s class, also he is a two-naudod lighter with a fair knowledge of footworn, and a boxer who can take and dciiv er a hefty punch. Further, his early coach, Mr. Firth, has a good knowledge oi how to get and keep lit and imparted it to Wafne. Lowe, I have never seen in operation, but Thomas 1 have had the pleasure of watching in contests — a most capable exponent of the art, but I feel certain he will not make l.ghtweight on arrival at Los Angeles, whereas with . careful observation, 1 think Warno could make both bantam and fly-weight. Hoping that some of tho'powers that bo may consider the suggestion and thanking you for your valuable space. I am, etc., “INTERESTED.”
