ATTACK ON UNITED GOVERNMENT Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An appeal to Protestants to oppose Hie present Government at the coining general election was embodied in a motion carried to-day at the Dominion conference of the Protestant j/o!:tical Association. Mr. L. A. Taylor, of Hawera, presided, and members 0.. the executive council and delegates from all parts of New Zealand were present. It was stated in the resolution that the United Party had failed to uphold its Imperial and Dominion responsibilities and had neglected and opposed Uic rights of Protestants. The resolution condemned the Government’s failure to maintain adequate defence, and stated that this v. on Id pi me an added burden on Great Britain. It was also stated that the primage duty imposed by the Budget would Result in decreased preference for Empnc goods. Objection was taken to the special privileges extended to the Roman Catholic Church in the direction of dental clinics, and exemptions of priests and Marist fathers and brothers from payment of the unemployment levy. The resolution contained further reference to the privileges provided tor in the Nurses and Midwives Registration Act and to eulogistic references by Ministers of the Crown to sectarian schools, with prejudicial effect on the State school system.
