A specimen of Id. and Jd, stamps used on the British Antarctic expedition, 1910-13, commanded by the late Captain R. F. Scott, C.V.0., R.N., who was appointed postmaster of Victoria Land by the New Zealand Government, have Jbecn received by the Palmerston North museum authorities. There is also a set of 12 unused Id. stamps, for “free issue to such local college museums as you deem fit,” the covering letter added. “Captain Scott was succeeded by Commander E. R. G. R. Evans, C. 8., D. 5.0., who concurs with the presentation,” The letter was forwarded by Paymaster Captain Erancis Drake (retired), late secretary to the British Antarctic expedition, 1910-13, and assistant postmaster of Victoria Land. It is the intention of the authorities to distribute the stamps among the Palmerston North schools.
A meeting of Mr. J. Hodgens’ supporters will be held at the West End school to-night at 7.30 for the purpose of forming a district committee.
