. . YESTERDAY’S CASES i Before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Palmerston North. Magistrate’s Court yesterday, miscellaneous cases were dealt with. For crossing the railway lino in the Square when a train was approaching, John Arthur Swindlehurst, of Shannon, was fined £2, with 10/ costs. Charges of failing to pay the unemployment lovy were preferred against Charles Eire Pearson (Palmerston North)- Robert Hart and George "Vereoe (Ashhurst), each being fined £l, with costs 10/. C. G. Bush and W. H. Dixon (Ashhurst) were ordered to pay 10/ costs on similar charges. Nancy Maync Hope (Mr. Onglcy) sought a separation and maintenance order from her husband, Gilbert William hope. Plaintiff said she was married on April 23 last. The parties had got on happily until a month later, when she -discovered a letter written to her husband by another girl, malting a claimon him. Plaintiff had been prepared to overlook that, but ten days ago her husband had deserted her. Defendant stated that he and his wife had lived happily together' until some time after the first trouble occurred. Ho had given his wife all his earnings except a few shillings a week. Ho alleged that on several occasions he had been locked out at night and had gone away again. His Worship said that ho did not intend to make a separation order at present, but would make an order for 25/ per week maintenance for plaintiff. He expressed the hope that the parties wmuld come together again.
