Glen Oroua
There was a very good attendance at tho usual fortnightly euchre party and dance in the hall last Friday night. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs. J'. Bargh and Mr. P. H. Farland, while the consolation awards went to Miss Robinson and Mr. Wood. At a meeting held recently in Eongotea, Mr. J. Howl was reappointed supervisor of the boys’ and girls’ man-gold-growing and calf-rearing competitions in the Glen Oroua district. Entries are again very good this year, mangold entries totalling 11 and calf entries 14. Prom weather records supplied by the local school, the following are the averages, etc., for tho month of August:—Average barometer, 29.39 ins.; average thermometer, 46.87 degrees; total rainfall, 4.505 inches; number of frosts, 3.
