(From Our Own Correspondent.) Under very good conditions a shoot for the Te Hckenga Cup was held by members of the Wairakoi Defence Rifle club. Ten shots were fired on each of the two ranges, and the individual scores were as follow: R. D. McGregor, 300yds. 47, 500yds. 49, handicap scr., aggregate 90; C. Moess, 45, 48, scr., 93; D. J. McGregor, 45, 40, 2, 93; F. H. Thompson, 45, 45, 3, 93; M. Thompson, 43, 43, 4, 90; H. Thompson, 3S, 45, 0, 89; W. Hyde, 44, 44, scr., 88; S. Stent, 44, 44, scr., SS; S. M. Meads, 40, 45, 3, 88; S. A. Meads, 43, 44, scr., 87j J. H. Thompson, 43, 44, scr., 87; R. lvronast, 41, 44, scr., 85; D. F. Thompson, 41, 39, 5, 85; S. Knight, 39, 36, 3,7 S; L. G. Rose, 33, 29, 15, 77; P. K. Robinson, 27, 36, 10, 73; J. Rose, 19, 30, 20, 69. A very successful and enjoyable danco was given by the ladies of the district on Thursday night in aid of funds for the Hockey Club. Both modern and old-time dances were held music being supplied by Mesdames F. H. and H. Thompson and Mr. J. Carr. Mr. N. Saywell was an efficient M.C. A football team from Mangaweka journeyed to Rangiwahia on Wednesday afternoon to play a friendly game with tho local fifteen. A very even contest resulted, despite tho exceedingly muddy condition of tho ground. The homo team eventually proved victorious by eight points to nil. B. Saywell and M. Lockyer each scored a try, and B. Saywell converted one. The fifth of a series of card tournaments in aid of funds for the Catholic Church was held on Saturday night, when there was the usual good attendance. The winners of the first prizes were: Cribbage, Mrs. Collie and Mr. F. Saywell; euchre, Mrs. J. Thompson and Mr. R. J. Carr. The meeting of the Women’s Institute which was to have been held this afternoon is being postponed on account of the funeral of the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Boshier.
