INCREASED ATTENDANCE SINCE OPENING OF TERM.

Col. J. H. Whyte, D. 5.0., D.0.M., presided at the meeting of the College Street School Committee last evening. There were also present Messrs 1. IS." L. Turnbull, A. H Worboyj, C. H. Schwass, E. Persson, C. L. Mowlem, C. S. Pecs and J. Dash (secreTho headmaster (Mr. W. A. Swinbourn) was also in attendance. Arbor Day. The Department wroto asking the committee to set aside a day as Arbor Day and it was decided that it be Fri-day,-September 11. Trees have been ordered from Rotorua and Feildmg and after a short address these will be planted with due ceremony. Headmaster's Report.

I have received from Messrs Alex. Clark a number of wall paper pattern books which I desire to acknowledge.” The report was adopted, the chairman remarking that it was satisfactory to note that the attendance had increased by 29 since the beginning of the term.
