Rumanian Queen in Exile
CAROL’S MISTRESS AT THE PALACE. LONDON, July 21. Not one member of the Rumanian Legation was among tho crowds at Victoria station when Princess Helen, exQueen of Rumania, arrived. Nevertheless, the Princess, in an official statement, said:— “My journey has been undertaken by mutual understanding jvitli the King. I am returning to Rumania at the end of October.”
“We do not know officially that she is arriving,” said an official of the legation. “All we know is what we read in the newspapers.” Smiling radiantly, Helen kissed her mother (Queen Sophie, of Greece), and her sisters, and drove off to the Mayfair Hotel, ■ followed by three ’busloads of luggage. _ It is disclosed in the Daily Mail that beforo leaving Bucharest Helen was compelled to give King Carol a written undertaking pledging her to silence. Madame Lupescu is now invited to the Palace, and Prince Michael is to join an aviation school,
