Youth Again Triumphant
ANOTHER 16-YEAR-OLD CHAMPION United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. MELBOURNE, Aug. 4. Youth was triumphant in the amateur foursomes title, H. Williams, aged 16, and R. Harris, aged 20, with 155 for 36 holes, were tho winners, being live strokes fewer than the runners-up, M. Ryan and Sloan Morpeth (tho ex-New Zealander). Edgar and Bulte, the titleholders, finished sixth with 166. Received Wednesday, 12.40 u.m. MELBOURNE, Aug. 4. Tho first round matches in the Victorian amateur golf championship were remarkable for the defeat of tho. veteran, A. Jackson, by the 16-year-old golfer H. L. AVilliams, who gave a first-class exhibition, out-driving his opponent off practically every tec and playing his irons with mechanical accuracy. Ho won 4 and 3. After a great struggle at the 37th., P. Bulto eliminated the former open champion, Ivo Wihitton, at the final hole. Sloan Morpeth (the cx-Now Zealander) defeated L. McPherson 5 and 3.
