The Times says that the_ fact that banks in France and the United States are giving a credit of fifty millions sterling to the Bank of England is a piece of far-sighted financial statesmanship, and a much-needed demonstration of financial solidarity, which is essential to the stability of the world. The banks’ agreement gives the British Government breathing space to take effective steps to balance the Budget. German Credit Renewed BASLE, Aug. 3. The Bank of International Credits has renowed for three months a £20,-000,-000 credit to Germany.
