Shortage of Half-Crowns
BANKS STOCKING UP TOR CHRISTMAS Per Press Association. . AUCKLAND, Aug. 3. Owing to the shortogc of halfcrowns, the banks in Auckland are restricting the issue of silver of that denomination with the object of building up a reserve of half-crowns for the busy Christmas season. No definite maximum lias been fixed, and regular customers of the banks are being supplied as usual, casual customers being asked to accept silver of other denominations.
