Another Rebellion for Portugal
MADEIRA IN HANDS OP REBELS. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Monday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, April 6. A message from Funchal, Madeira, says allegedly instigated by deportees from Lisbon the local troops with the troops sent from Lisbon to deal with the recent general strige, revolted and arrested the High Commissioner and the Civil and Military Governors. They took over the telegraphs, telephones i Bank of Portugal and local Finance Department and nominated General .Sousa Dias Governor and head of the military junta which issued a manifesto declaring that the movement was aimed at abolishing the revolutionary regime. The Lisbon Government to-morrow is despatching a cruiser and machine gun battalion to Funchal.
