The poet, Lascolles Abercrombie, had previously recited one of Rupert Brooke’s poems over his grave. Rupert Brooke, om* of the most noted of England’s 20th. century poets, died at sea off the island of Lemnos during the Gallipoli campaign, when ho was only 28 years of age.
