Holiday Cricket
HOROWHENUA DEFEAT FEILDING For the holiday yesterday Horow'honua sent a representative cricket team to play Feilding on Kowhai park, the visitors winning somewhat easily. The wicket was in good order, but the light was far from satisfactory. The home team, which batted first, did not get going, and were dismissed for a disappointing total. Whitehead and Wild opened, and Baumber’s first ball was snicked to Sievers at first slip, and a good catch resulted. Sicvers’ fourth ball was short and was skied to Simcox at third man. -2—o.
Bramwcll narrowly missed being stumped. Fitzpatrick had hard luck in playing on hard to Sievers, and Bramwcll was unlucky in being run out by a smart return from Rowe. Lange was brilliantly caught at first slip by Sievers. While trying to pull Flutey, Nansett was clean bowled. Whitehead had hard luck in dragging a crooked ball into his wicket, and with Wild caught for nothing, McClure remained not out for a patient 14. S. Bramwcll and Whitehead opened to Attmorc and Robinson, the latter being beautifully caught by Lange with the total at three. At the lunch adjournment Baumbcr and Attmorc were at the wicket. On resuming runs came freely, and Whitehead retired in favour of Sandford, who proved expensive. Attmorc at length was out to an easy catch at the wickets off Brainwell for a splendid 53. Sievers succeeded and the scoring slowed a little, and then Sievers cocked one up and was caught at/ square leg. Roe was out 1.b.w., while Simcox was bowled off his leg, both off Bramwcll. Flutey followed and was soon caught at square leg. Bull kept on merrily and hit a beautiful six off Fitzpatrick, but was eventually dismissed l.b.w. to Sandford. The innings concluded for a total of 218. Following arc the details:— FEILDING. L. G. Wild, c. Sievers, b. Baumbcr 0 L. Whitehead, c. Simcox, b. Sievers 0 N. Fitzpatrick, b. Sievers .. .. .. 11 S.
