“Miss New Zealand” Marries
PALMERSTON NORTH BRIDEGROOM. The marriage was celebrated recently at the Church of Christ, Dunedin, of Thelma Omand M'Millan (winner of the “Miss New Zealand’’ Beauty Competition in 1926), only daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. M‘ Millan, Dunedin, and Francis Gcorgo Scott, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Scott, Palmerston North. The Eev. IV. D. More officiated. The church was decorated with blue and pink hydrangeas, orange marigolds and “red-hot pokers.’’ The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. W. H. M'Kcnzie, wore a gown of ivory ring velvet, the long skirt widening at the back to form a train. The bodiee had a square neck, and she wore a necklace of pearls. Her veil of Brussels net was arranged off the face with a chin strap of seed pearls, and a cluster of orange blossoms at each side. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies. There were three bridesmaids. Miss Rima Sunderland (chief) wore a long fitting frock of flame ring velvet and a Spanish picture hat with a long sweeping ostrich plume. Misses Lenoro M'Kcnzie and
Nanoyc George wore similar frocks in of putty coloured felt. All carried cornflower blue ring velvet, and hats shower bouquets, and wore gold necklaces and bracelets (the gifts of the bridegroom). A small flower girl. Thelma Martin (Nelson), wore a long frock of flame velvet, with a tinsel headdress. ■She carried a small posy, and wore a signet ring (the gift of the bridegroom). A .reception was held at the Strand Salon. Mrs. M'Millan wore a gown of mulberry eelancse, a velour hat, and a black fur coat. She carried a bouquet of pansies. Mrs. Scott wore a black frock with Oriental trimmi'ng-, and a black hat. The bride travelled in a tailored suit, of nigger brown serge, and a nigger velour hat. She carried a musquash coat (the gift of the bridegroom).
