Bride in Cream Satin, Bridesmaid in Blue
DOWNING—FORREST. Orange blossoms worn by the bride’s mother on her wedding day, were worn by Miss Eileen Caroline Forrest, for her marriage recently to Mr F. W. Downing. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. R. Forrest, of Ames* bury Street, Palmerston North and the bridegroom second son of Mr and Mrs T. Downing, Park Road, Palmerston North. The ceremony was performed at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Broadway. by Rev. Draper. The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, presented a charming picture in her ankle length frock of deep cream satin. The bodice was trimmed with Y-shaped bnndsl’aggot. stitched —the long tight fitting sleeves coming to a point over the wrist. The skirt was fully flared with t;ny hip frills. A hand embroidered tulle veil was caught to the head and clasped with sprays of orange blossom worn by her mother oil her wedding day. An exquisite shower bouquet of roses and dahlias was carried. The bride was attended by her sister Miss Marjorie Forrest, wearing a frock of delphinium blue georgette with tight fitting corsage and two tiered flared skirt. Streamers of velvet, ribbon to tone fell from the shoulders and were caught in a bow at. the back, the (ml finished with flowers and reaching to the hemline. Primrose flowers were used as trimmings. A blue silk crinoline hat to tone, turned off the face.
and trimmed with primrose velvet flowers was worn. A shower bouquet, of cactus dahlias and delphiniums with primrose streamers was carried.
Miss Myra Forrest, sister of the bride, made a sweet flower girl, wearing a frocs of primrose organdie with lace poke bonnet trimmed with .delphinium blue .ribbons. She carried a posy of blue and primrose flowers. The duties of best man wore carried out by Mr Alfred Boldson. of Rotorua, cousin ot the bride.
The reception was, held at Messrs Collitison and Cunninghamc’s lounge, where Mrs Forrest receive- ' *>or guests wearing a frock of floral s”ff with wine velour feU hat and cinnamon fox fur. Her bouquet was of red roses. The
bridegroom's mother wore .a frock of maroon crepe de chine with fawn trimmings and hat to tone, with a bouquet of red dahlias. Among the guests was Mrs A. Halliway, o,f Wellington, wearing a navy spun silk frock with oriental trimmings and navy hat. She carried a sheaf of golden dahlias. Mrs H. E. Bennett, of Auckland, wore brown crepe chincttc with, apricot trimmings and brown Bangkok ■ straw hat. She wore a fox fur and carried a sheaf of autumn tinted dahlias.
The happy couple left for the north later in the day, the bride travelling in a frock of brown figured satin with hat and shoes to tone and musquash fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom.
