Recent Fatalities
Per Press Association. WESTPORT, Last Night. The body of William Morris Spiers, who, with Charles Morris Lynch, was drowned in a boating accident in the Buller river below Murchison on March 15, was found on Fairdown Beach on Saturday afternoon. An inquest was opened on Saturday by Mr. E. R. Fox touching the death of John Coutts, who died on Friday at No. 3 camp, Karamea road. Evidence was given that a slip fell on the camp, carrying Coutts away, and that his left leg was torn off. He was extricated from the debris and was being conveyed to Mokihinui when ho died. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
