OPENS CAMPAIGN IN ENGLAND. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, Feb. 1. Mr. Winston Churchill opened a “'Save India” campaign with a spcccli in the Freo Trade Hall, Manchester. The speech was on the same lines as that which he delivered recently in the House of Commons. Mr. Churchill expressed a fear that, if tho country continued to drift and jog along with the Socialists in their Indian policy, resisting power would be weakened and/‘all will bo dragged over the precipice.” ‘‘We ought to make it clear now that we intend to remain effective rulers in India for a long, indefinite period, and though we welcome the cooperation of loyal Indians, wo will have no truck with lawlessness, ’ added Mr. Churchill. ‘‘lf necessary I would suspend even tho most moderate constitutional changes while the bad spirit is abroad. ’ ’ Congress Leaders Meet PRELIMINARY DEMANDS.
