GIFT EVENING From Our Own Correspondent. Mr. and Mrs.- J. Truman, who have recently been married, were entertained by their friends at a gift evening in the hall-on Friday night. The programme took the form of a card evening, after which the presentation was made, and then after supper , a short dance was held. Mr Kroger, acting as chairman, called upon Mr. and Mrs. Truman to receive a tine assortment of household gifts which he said was a token of the esteem they were held m by the people of the district. He also asked Mrs. Truman, who as Miss M. Ireland, was an enthusiastic member, to accept a small gift from the Hockey Club. Mr. Truman, in a short speech suitably responded. The winners of the card prizes were: Crib, Mr. and Mrs. F. Bielski; consolations, Mrs. C. Dcihl and Mr. Kroger; euchre, Mrs. Truman and Mr. iS. Meads; consolations, Miss N. Meads and Mr. N. Truman. Lodge Meeting. There was a fair attendance at the fortnightly meeting of the Oddfellows’ Lodge held on Wednesday night, N.G. Bro. J. Rose presiding. One account was passed for payment and at the next meeting nominations for officers will bo called. After the meeting a short dance was held till supper time.

General News. At a general meeting of the show committee it was decided that owing to financial stringency and general depression, no show would be held this year. The Methodist Church intends holding its annual gala day nea_r the end .of the month.
