MERELY postponed for a SHORT Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A statement that refresher courses for the Air Force had not been cancelled by the Government, but merely postponed for a short period, was made by the Minister of Defence, Hon. J. G. Cobbe, to-day. The Minister drew attention to a report which stated that
“all refresher courses for the New Zealand Air Force which were to have been conducted within tho next few months have been cancelled, according to Government orders just issued.”
He said that tho statement convcved an incorrect impression of the position. The air refresher courses had not been cancelled, but merely postponed for a short period. The courses would normally have been held during the months of January, February and March of next year, and they would have continued until april and May.
“While it is regretted that any slight inconvenience should bo caused to flying ofleers in respect of their annual leave, it is considered that the postponement should not interfere to any extent with the programme that has been mapped out for the courses,” the Minister added. “The Government has no intention of departing from its policy of according every encouragement to the Air Force o ftho Dominion. ’ ’
