TENNIS CLUB. From Our Own Correspondent. The patience of sports enthusiasts was at last rewarded with a fine weekend, of which full advantage was taken. Several long delayed ladder matches were played, while many challenges for tho Harro Buttons (for mixed doubles) were dealt with. The final of the mixed doubles opening day tournament was also played, and after a well contested match, Churchill and Mrs Iv. Waterson (—2) defeated Marshall and Mrs Prince (—3) by 30—24. After afternoon tea; the president, Mr A. R. McNae, took the opportunity to present the trophies won. The club this season has a membership of close oil 50 players, and judging by tho way in which the courts aro attended when there is any prospect of fine weather, the season sould be a good one. Cricket Club. During the week-end a return match was played between Apiti and Kahcke. In the previous game Apiti won by 30 runs, but on this occasion Kaheke turned the tables, scoring 98 to Apiti’s 61. For Kahcke, G. Burton opened, and carried his bat right through tho innings for 41, Pawson being next best with 29, while J. Gawood (5 for 24), G. Burton (2 for 20) and J. Burton (2 for 8) accoountcd for the wickets. For Apiti, Kennedy 15, J. Strahan 13, and Muir 9, made most runs, while J. Cantwell took eight wickets. With a month’s further practice, Apiti hopes to get together a fairly strong combination to try conclusions in friendly matches with I eilding teams.

The committee have decided to offer a medal at the conclusion of the season for the most improved all-round player.
