Musical Programme At Business Girls’ Lunch

A pleasing cliango was provided by musical items and a recitation at tho Business Girls’ Lunch at the Kosco tearooms yesterday, when there was a large attendance of present and past members. Miss 0. Blockley bnefly expressed a welcome to tho visitors, Mrs. H. Johnson (Wellington), Misses Cranston and M. Muirhcad and to tho new members, Misses J. Korsal, Bruce, Short and Miles, also Mrs. Benfield. She aiso voiced tho pleasure of the members in the presence of the president, Mrs. j l. H Oram and vice-presidents, Mesdames J H. Blocklcv and W. F. Royal. _ Apologies for absence were received from Misses Symons and Stairs. A piano solo, Saint Salu’s "Toccata was brilliantly played by Miss M. Muirhead. Miss V. CoTke and Miss M. Penketh sang, the former contributing “Lackaday” (Crompton) and the latter “You’d Better Ask Me” (Lohr), two daintv songs which suited the sweet- voices of the singers admirably. Miss D. Welt on, is always a welcome performer and her ’cello solo, Piere (Squire), was charmingly played. An amusing- recitation, “The Origin of Scandal,” by Miss D. Edwards, concluded the programme. The accompaniments wore played by Mrs. B. F. Barlow and Miss M. Muirhcad. Miss Blockley returned thanks to the performers for the enjoyment they had given.
