Palmerston North Northern Club Reviews Past Year

OPENING ON OCTOBER 11. The decision to recommend the »** coming committco to open tho greens on tho second Saturday in October was mado at. the annual general meeting of the Northern Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club, held last evening. Mr P. S. Larcomb presided and extended a welcome to approximately 35 members. The annual report (previously published) and the balance sheet were read and adopted. Reviewing the jiast year’s activities the chairman stated that the finances were in a satisfactory state considering the various items of expenditure. It would be seen that tlicro were 61 bowlers, 111 tennis players, 37 croquet enthusiasts and three familytickets had been issued, thus giving a total of £SO 10s in subscriptions. There was a credit of £67 for the year and altogether the club was in a very healthy state. Sectional reports were presented revealing that, the past season had been a successful one from all points of view. Officers Elected. Tho following officers were elected for the 1930-31 season:—President, Mr It. H. Stallard; vice-presidents, Mrs E. Palmer and Messrs P. S. Larconib and E. R. Harris; lion, secretary, Mr S. Stannard; lion, auditor, Mr C. Bryan. Sectional secretaries were elected as follow: Mr J. J. Shannon (bowling), Mrs H. Brown (croquet) and Mr W. N. Goodo (tennis). Mr R. McKeo was appointed green supervisor. It was decided to accord the bon. secretary an honorarium of £lO 10s. Tho colts’ trophy in the bowling section, it was announced, had been won by Mr H. G. Mills. In view of the excellent work per-, formed by the caretaker, Mr G. Lynch, during the past season, it, was resolved to accord him £7 7s as a mark of appreciation. Two new players were elected to membership. It was also resolved to place on record the services of Mr Palmer as greens supervisor. A tribute was also paid to jhc assistance lent by Mr McKee. Mr E. R. Harris was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for a- donation of £1 Is towards the general funds. The president eulogised the work of tlic retiring president, Mr P. S. Larcomb. He had done yeoman service on behalf of the club and it was decided to place on Tecord a motion to this effect.
