Very font innately no serious consequences attended Miss D'. Jackman, of Church street, Feilding, when she took some poison in mistako for medicine on Sunday night. The poison was in a medicine bottle and gong to take some medicine, Miss Jackman inadvertently took a small dose from tho wrong bottle. She early recognised her mistake and prompt measures were effective in removing any evil consequences. Miss Jackman is well and about again. BiibJe instruction in tho two local primary schools will be - commenced after tho August term holidays. The ministers will give a 15 minutes lesson cn one day in each week at each school. Yesterday the completion of the purchase by the Borough Council of the land required ou the outskirts of the borough for use as a rubbish tip was finalised. This area will in time become a borough asset for that portion of the land which surrounds the gully has been planted with some hundreds of revenue producing trees, which arc icportail to bo doing very well. The Feilding Fire Brigade has pracally completed negotiations for the purchase of a new light motor fire •engine to replace one which had seen long service. This vehicle was disposed of at a' suitable figure and the new chassis with a Feilding built body will bo obtained by the board, at a figure, it is understood, considerably under the estimate.
