The Navy Department announces that a tentative decision had been icachcd calling for the retirement of the Battleships Utah (23,000 tons). Florida (25.700 tons) and Wyoming (.27,000 tons) about October Ist without the necessity of awaiting Japan’s ratification of the London Treaty. It is assumed that world conditions are such that no situation could ariso within the next eighteen months in which the United States would be handicapped by t-he lack of these warships and the move will save the country about four million dollars. It will also servo as a gesture of international confidence.
