West End School
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The West End school committee met last evening, Mr C. H. Whitehead presiding. Thcro were also present Messrs G. Tremaine, N. Schwabe, A. N. Beattie, J. Warner, T. Downing, N. Healy, J. McKee and G. K. Hoilicr (secretary). The headmastor (Mr F. W. Moore) reported that the attendance had been fairly well maintained. The average for the past month had been 327.5 ar.a the roll 364. Twelve new pupils haa been admitted and 13 had left. The following donations were acknowledged:—From Mr C. H. Whitehead, exhibits for the museum; from the Kia Toa Football Club, a trophy to be awarded to a member of the senior team; from the Rugby Union, two “footballs for - the 'midget "teams. Mr E. Hodge visited the school on July 17 and as a result improvements have been made to' two fireplaces. The duplicator has been received and application has been made for subsidy In connection with the gramophone records required. • It was decided to write to the Herbert Smith trust fund for two cups for the swimming championships. The provisional date for tho school ball was fixed as August 21. A combined meeting is to be held on Tuesday, August 5, to. finalise arrangements. It was decided to thank those who had made donations to the school.
