Bow School Committees Suffer Under Economy
SUBSIDIES WITHDRAWN ON MONEY CONTRIBUTIONS Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Instructions concerning the limitatations of school committees’ subsidies have been received by the Canterbury Education Board from the Department. Subsidies on voluntary contributions towards the cost of school pianos, gramophones and non-essential ground improvements arc to bo stopped.. Library subsidies arc to bo limited to absolutely essential books, and no subsidies arc to be granted towards tho cost of continuous readers. These cover most of the claims previously made on the Department for the greater part of the money raised by committees in the past has been for these purposes.
