Ip the opening match of the AngloGerman Davis Oup tie at Queen’s Club, Dr. H. Landmann (Germany) beat H. W. Austin 6— 3, B—6,8 —6, 's—7, 4—6, 6—4. The other singles match was unfinished, owing to the failing light. Prenn (Germany) is leading Lee 6—4, 7—9, 6—3. The Austin-Landmann match resolved itself into a contest of youth and staging power. His old complaint, cramp, added to the Englishman’s difficulties. Showers interfered with both matches
