Hagen’s Brilliant Play Defeats Kirkwood
United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. MELBOURNE, March 16. At the Victoria links Walter Hagen defeated Kirkwood in a 36-hole match 2 up. Kirkwood was 2 up on tho morning round, but Hagen made a brilliant recovery over the last nine holes.
MAGNIFICENT APPROACHING AND PUTTING. Received Monday, 1 a.m. • MELBOURNE, March 16. Hagen was seldom off the line over the last eighteen holes. He made many magnificent approaches and ran down some beautiful long putts. His figures for the afternoon 18 holes were: Out 37, home 33. Kirkwood’s second 18 read: Out 39, homo 37.
