Two Schoolgirls Drowned in Surf
‘BEACH INSPECTOR’S HEROISM,

Two schoolgirls, Thelma Riley, aged .15. and Elva Hamilton, aged nine, wore drowned in the surf at Thirroul, on the south coast, to-day. Two other girls, who wero in tho same party, were rescued at the point of exhaustion. Mr. Jack Rankin, the beach inspector, did heroic work. After rescuing two ho searched for the others. He had to be dragged forcibly from the water and needed medical attention.
