Obiang-Kai-Shek Sends Out Personal Forces

REBELS NUMBER 30,000.

Received Thursday, Midnight, SHANGHAI, Deo. 5. There is a distinctly uneasy feeling in Nanking following the troops mutiny at Pukow. Tho consensus of opinion is that the position of the Government is serious and the belief is held that tho mutiny was part of a nation-wide plot to overthrow the Chiang-kai-shok regime. The failure of Kuominohun to capture Hahkow precipitated the trouble, the original intention of the plotters being to attack Nanking whilst the Government troops were occupied in Honan but Feng-yuh-siang’s defeat upset the scheme. The mutineers are preparing to mako a stand at a spot two hours T train journey from Pukow and at present are holding the Tientsin-Pukow railway. The forces number 30,000.

Chiiang-kai-shek is rushing all available troops to the Nanking front, including a special army he has personally. maintained for tho defence of Nanking, which hitherto has always been retained in the capital, thus indicating the seriousness of the situation.
