Mere Rain and Cold Snap

The southern depression is now cencred off the East Coast of the South Island. The cyclone in the northern Tasman Sea is advancing gradually towords northern New Zealand. Pro-vail-ing winds will be moderate to strong northerly from Canterbury northwards, reaching gale force at places, elsewhere moderate but freshening southerly and southerlies becoming general within the next 24 hours. The seas in Now Zealand waters will he generally rough; winds becoming southerly generally in the eastern Tasman Sea and strong to gale force, with rough to heavy seas. The weather is still unsettled generally, with rain in most districts and someheavy falls, more especially in northern districts, but improving on the West Coast of the South Island. Temperatures will be mild at first, except in southern New Zealand but a cold change is probable during Thursday.
