LENGTHY TRIAL ENDS IN JURY DISAGREEING
NAPIER TRADESMAN CHARGED, Per Press Association. NAPIER, Last Night The Supreme Court spent' another full day on the case against Peter Francis Wilkie, charged with, failure to account, and at the conclusion, after over four hours’ deliberation, the jury; was unable to agree and Mr. Justice MacGregor ordered a new trial- for Monday next. The defence consisted of the declaration that Wilkie had been trading in posts among the natives on his own behalf and that he purchased the posts from Chase for himself and was under no obligation to Bate and Bell t® account for the money.
