From Our Own Correspondent. MOCK TRIAL, The mock trial which was staged by the Knox Winter club on Tuesday evening was attended by a large audience, which enjoyed the humorous, if unjudicial proceedings. They opened with sentencing of various members of the audience for unusual misdemeanours. Those who took part in another scene were Mr. J. S. Donaldson, in a female part, who was the plaintiff, Miss Jcffeiys, the fair defendant, Miss B. Brewer, Miss Davidson, Mr. J. Duthic, tho’Rev. J. I. blacky, who conducted the case for the prosecution and Mr. A. McNicol, counsel for the defence. Mr. J. E. Tyler acted as judge and Mr. G. L. Shaw was clerk of the court. Mr. E. Hyde filled the role of constable. The climax of the case came when the bewitching plaintiff was revealed as a “masquerader.” ORMONDVILLE. The Dannevirkc Rugby sub-union has been advisod that the representative match Hawke’s Bay v. Wanganui allocated to Dannevirkc, has been fixed for Saturday, September 28. NORSEWOOD. Tho skating season, which commences to-night in tho Town hall at Norse wood,
will be run weekly throughout the 'winter months. These evenings will be under the same management as formerly.
