At Wimbledon in the British amateur tennis championships, second round of the men’s singles, Landry (France) beat Andrews (New Zealand) 4-6, 7-5, 6-0, 6-1; Austin (England) beat Hunter (America); Brugnon (France) beat Van Ryn (America) Borotra beat W. A. R. Collins 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Others to survive tho second round were Tilden, Boussus, do Morpurgo, Raymond, Gregory, Coen, Kingsley, and Hennessey. In the ladies’ singles Miss Helen Wills, Miss Betty Nuthall, Miss Joan Fry, Miss Ryan and Senorita d’Alvarez entered the second round. Misses Heine, Tapscott, Mrs Mallory, and Fraulcin Ausscm entered the third round.
In the second round Cochet (France) beat Bower (England). Andrew's played good tennis in the first set, but after that was clearly outplayed by Landry, whose beautiful volleying did not give the New Zealandor a chanco to movo from the baseline. A strained wrist and leg handicapped Andrews.
