Many Wheels in Machine
HOUSE EXECUTIVE NOW DEEMED SUPERFLUOUS
MOVE FOB FREEDOM. United Press Association —By Electrß Telegraph —Copyright. Received Wednesday, 8.45 p.m. LONDON, Juno 26. Now that Labour holds office, Ministers feel the necessity for a change in the party machinery. Hitherto, the Labour policy in Parliament has been decided ty an executive, consisting oi members of the House elected by ballot. Tho Government expresses tho opinion that as tho responsibility now rests with Cabinet, the executive should disappear and bo replaced by la consultative committee, between which and Cabinet two or three Ministers should be deputed as liaison officers.
it is understood this will be the chief business of the first meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party, which will be held on Thursday. It is pioposed in future to discontiuuo weekly meetings of party, and to summon Lab our members of the House only whif.i occasion arises. The change is essentially a move for fredom and it remains tc bo seen how the left wingers will take the proposals, for they believe strongly m party dieatorship over Ministers.
