The gathering then gave j its war cry, being the Buunythorpe ex- ] ptession of good wishes to the guest. The evening was spent in games, stories, and musical and wireless items. During tile evening, after Mr Duthio

Both gentlemen referred to their early association with Mrs. and the lute Mr 'J. 11. Faulkner and family, and to the esteem in which they had been held. Mr M. Eggleton, as one of the oldest settlers present, said they could not let Mrs. Faulkner leave the district without giving any expression of best wish- j cs and regret, at her departure from the district. He spoke of the many kind actions of Mrs. Faulkner during the years she and her family had resided in Bunnythorpe, and presented to the guest a handsome oak clock, suitably inscribed.

Mr A. H. Faulkner, of Te Aroha, responded on behalf of his mother and thanked the speakers for their good wishes and gift. After all had joined in singing “She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” supper was provided by the ladies of the party and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought to a close a most sociable and enjoyable evening.
