CASE OF SMALLPOX AMONG BOY TOURISTS

Received Monday, 7.40 p.m. SYDNEY, June 24. • A definite case of smallpox was diagnosed to-day, tho patient being one of - the Young Australia League boys who returned by Aorangi on Saturday from a tour abroad. When the vessel berthed, two . boys were under the doctor, one, who is recovering, suffering from chickenpos and the other developed smallpox. The Health department is calling up all tho other Young Australian League boys, passengers to illo number .of 488 and the crew of 350 for examination and possible vaccination. The Union Shipping Company immediately informed Mr. J. Simons, officer in charge of tho boys while on tour, who states he had eight cases with symptoms similar to those shown by the stricken- boy. All the cases wore in Canada or America and all diagnosed as chicken-pox.
