YOUNG MAN’S DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC
ENLARGED THYMUS GLAND.

HAMILTON, Last Night. At tiho inquest upon the death of Thomas William Atkinson, - aged 19, a farm who succumbed unff-er an anaesthetic while undergoing a nasal operation, Dr. A. i G. Waddell gave the opinion that degth was duo to an enlarged thymus glani —a very unusual condition. There woio several theories as to how an abnormal thymus brought death- It was believed _ to possess or was unusually susceptible to the action of chemical and physical agents, such as an anaesthetic. The shock of an operation also appeared more severe in such cases. In the absence of the operating doctor and anaesthetist, tho inquest was postponed. _____ .
