General Business

The management committee of the Manawatu Rugby District council was held last evening, Mr. J. A. CoLquhoiui presiding. Also present were Messrs I*. O. Bkoglund, R. Bly, T. Mcllerron, F. D. Mackic, A. J. Trevena, H. 11. Hands, B. E. Hatch, T. Fagan, E. Cicve--I}% K. W. Eglinton, 11. B. Crawford, J. K. liardic.

A letter was received from the To Kawau sub-union, forwarding affiliation fee of one guinea and notifying that its representatives were prepared to meet Oroua in the annual winter show fixture. An application was also made for the usual grant . towards school football. The secretary was instructed to inform the sub-union that the question of school grants would be considered later in the season.

The Bunnythorpc club wroto with reference to the recent fixture between the club’s third grade team and FeUding I-ligh'School. On the occasion of this game, the official referee had not put in an appearance and a friendly game had been played under the control of Mr. \\. B. Dutbic. The Fcilding High School authorities wroto to last week’s meeting of the management committee setting out the position and the committee decided that the game should be replayed if it was likely to influence the competition. Tlie letter from the Bunnythorpc club received last evening, pointed out that Bunnythorpc had been quite prepared to play the game, but that the High School”team had refused. The club therefore considered that it "was entitled to a refund of £1 10s playing expenses from the management committee „as it considered it had done everything possible to meet the position and had been out of pocket through having to travel to Fcilding. It was decided to inform the club that the repayment of, travelling' expenses would be considered when it was apparent whether it. would be necessary to replay the game. An amendment, proposed by Mr. Trevena and seconded by Mr. Olevely, that the amount named in the letter be refunded to the club, was lost on the voices. . , In connection with this matter, tnc Referees’ association wroto stating that Mr. C. Thompson, tlie referee set down to control the game, had been granted a month’s leave, but hail been inadvertently appointed to referee the fixture. , , J. 'Tetley of the Kia Toa club, applied for a transfer to Massey College, and on the report of his old club that all obligations had been fulfilled, lus application was granted ayd _ lie was reclassified from senior to junior. There was some discussion abou. this transfer, Mr. Fagan stating that he thought the player under review was rather too strong to be regraded as a -junior. He had a lot of sympathy with Massey College in its endeavour to establish football but at the same time, he thought the council would be setting up a bad precedent bv granting the application. . Mr. Crawford (Km Toa) stated that as Tetley was a student at the college, liis club had no objection to the transfer being granted. . . Mr. Colqulioun was. of "the -opinion that the player should, be regraded on his merits, hot'., becausebe was at Massey College. The 'transfer was S, TUo C secretary of the Athletic club wrote withdrawing thq, club s third grade team from the competition owing to lack of players. ' The withdrawal was accepted and it was decided to refund the team s nomination fee of ten shillings.
