Australian Press Association. Received Tuesday, 2 a.m. -SHANGHAI, May 5. Colonel Max Bauer, who was Ludcnt'rorff’s Chief of Staff during the great war, died in the Shanghai Isolation hospital of smallpox.' Colonel Bauer a few months ago was appointed head of 30 German military experts for the purpose of the reorganisation of the Nationalist Army at Nanking.
