Tho Mayor of Chicago, (Mr. Thompson) who conducted his campaign under an anti-British slogan, welcomed the Australian and Now Zealand cadets to-day and addressed them from a Union Jack draped platform. He in vited them to a council meeting. Tho Australian band played “God Save tho King.” Major Simons said his countrymen felt close to tho Mayor, because of his British name. “We thought he was Scotch when the Mayor- sent us a collect cablegram,” he concluded.
