A DARK GOLFER
The first coloured golfer to compete for the British Open Championship will be the Indian R; B. Bambata, assistant professional) at Durban, South Africa. He will also be the smallest competitor, as he is only 4ft 11in high ••d' weighs 7st tOlb.
Bambata, who speaks English perfectly, says: “I have come to England to get the chance. I cannot get in colour-ruled Africa. My ambition is to become an assistant professional in England.” He uses only five clubs—driver, brassie, iron, deep-faced mashie, and putter. Bambata has also entered for the German, Belgian and Irish championships.
