From Our Own Correspondent. Rugby Football. Tho second game of the Te Kawau competitions was played at Eongotea, when the local fifteen met and defeated Hui Mai to the tune of 35—0. As the score indicates, the game was a walkover for the home team. Indeed, had the kicking been of the same standard as the general play, the score should have reached the half-century.

Eongotea lost the toss and played against the sun in the first spell. From the outset, it was evident the Eongotea players (black) were masters of the situation. Within a few minutes of the start, the blacks carried play into blue territory and E. Algar picked up and bulloekcd his way over. Amadio converted and Eongotea led, s—o. From the kick-out, blacks again carried play in the blues' twenty-five, where Fuller and Goldfinch opened up for Amadio to score in a handy position. The same player missed th? kick. Soon after, blues had to force down. From the twenty-five kick, Fuller secured and with a determined effort, burst through near the posts. Amadio ; s kick failed—Eongotea 11—0. After having had to submit to another force, tho blues were again in trouble when Goldfinch sved the way for Amadio to score near the posts. Goldfinch’s kick missed.

While blues were defending, the ball came to E. Gust, who landed a great field goal—Eongotea IS —O. From a melee near the Hui Mai line, the ball rolled out and Amadio put it over for a try. The same player’s kick failed and the spell ended 21—0. On resuming, Eongotea attacked and Howell put in a good run prior to handing on to Amadio, who scored in the corner. Fuller’s kick missed—Eongotea 24—0. From the resulting kick-off, the leather came to Amadio at half-way and the winger scored beneath the posts. Gust’s kick went the way of the rest— Eongotea 27 —0. Hui Mai now began to attack in turn and from a mark, Graham kicked a goal, 27—3. .Shortly after a Kongotea infringement gave D. Cameron a chance and he sent tho ball between the posts, 27 —G. Again the blacks swept into action and Goldfinch, with a solo run, scoro<l between the posts. Howell’s 4 kick failed, 30—6. Toward the close of the game, W. Gust put in a great run prior to handing on to Amadio, who scored between the posts. The same player converted and the game ended—Eongotea 35—6. Mr. T. Goodwin refereed.
