Hold ’Em, Yale, billed for the Tivoli theatre to-night, is a picture with a direct appeal to New Zealanders, who arc credited with an intimate knowledge of football from infancy. The story concerns a young freshman from the Argentine who goes to Yale with the idea that ho can reach the top rung of tho ladder by sheer bluff, but finds that sport is a port of the school religion and until he wins his way to success, he is regarded as a ncglible (juantity. He finds better boxers and footballers in Y'alo than lie imagines and goes through months of disappointment until hard practice and many knocks develop in him a spirit which he uses to great advantage on the football "field. The climax is reached in a hard-fought tussle between Yale and a rival football tcum. and a record “gate” witnesses this mutch with a display of excitement which is well known to followers of the game. Tie persistent Argentinian fails to roll up and the girl of his choice dejectedly watches the game until her hero comes along with a thrilling story cf his ex- J periences which delayed him.
