From Our Own Correspondent. On Monday evening the Methodist Sunday school celebrated their anniversary by producing a particularly good concert. The performers were the Methodist Sunday school girls and Miss Pratt’s Junior Bible Class. Preeminent among the excellent performers was Miss E. Harland, who acted the part of the young wife in the playette “The Young Wife’s Debts,’’ produced by the junior girls. Miss E. Osborne and Miss Pratt supplied the accompaniments. A very interesting hockey match between Rangiwahia and Apiti was played on Wednesday. The game was very open and fast, and a kindly feeling was displayed all through. Both sides attacked frequently, but a lack of completion to these attacks resulted in Apiti being defeated by 3 points to nil. Both teams contained several new members who were totally inexperienced in match play. Although this, is to be greatly' deprecated, yet it is a.state which can only be remedied by . practice. The visiting team was afterwards entertained to a dainty afternoon tea. Owing largely to prevalence of elections this township has during the last week or so had quite a metropolitan aspect. A very successful dance held in the Utiwai hall on Wednesday was attended by a number of Apiti residents. Surprise' parties are at present finding considerable favour in the public eye.
