TOWN BOARD MEETS. I Prom Our Own Correspondent. At tho monthly meeting of the Rongotea Town board. There were present, Mr. L. H. Yarrall (chairman) and Commissioners S. J. Teaz, E. J. Arnott, A. Trenkner and C. P. Wood (clerk). An apology was received from Mr. T. Fraser. On the motion of Mr. Yarrall, seconded by Mr. Arnott, it was resolved that future meetings of the board be held at 7.30 p.m. until further notice. Accounts amounting to £32 12s 5d were passed for payment. > The matter of unregistered dogs in the town was discussed at some lcr."“i, it being mentioned that quite a number of dogs had not been registered. » School Committee. There was a fair attendance of parents at the annual meeting of householders held in the school on Monday evening. Tho chairman was Mr. W. J. Amos. The balance sheet was adopted on the motion of Mr. E. J. Arnott and seconded by Mr. D. S. McLean. The chairman addressed the meeting and mentioned the matter of a dental clinic at Rongotea. This, he said, would cost about £IOO, of which Rongotea’s share would be about £3O. This would provide for the building of a room and the school committee would have to provide maintenance. A letter was read from Mr. F. C. Burgess, apologising for absence and notifying the committee'that he would not bo seeking re-election. On the motion of the chairman a heary vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Burgess, who had put in a great deal of work on the school grounds during the past few vears. This was seconded by Mr. Yarrall who also mentioned Mr. J. Parker as being deserving of the thanks pf tho parents. Mr. H. Ransom also sent a letter of apology for abMr" L. ,H. Yarrall moved that the committee aud tho teaching staff be congratulated for the fine work of the year. This was seconded by Mr. E. J. Arnott, who mentioned that the teachers were deserving of great praise, the past year being something in the nature of a record for passes m proficiency. The.motion was carried with acclamation. The election of a committee resulted: Messrs T. Wright, J. Duke, W. J. Amies, W. Matheson and J. Mossop. The matter of the election of 'a further two members was left to the incoming committee. The meeting closed with ■tho usual vote of thanks to the chair. The first meeting of the new committee was held immediately after tho election, Mr. W. J. Amies being elected to the chair, Mr. W. Matheson to the office of treasurer.

It was resolved that the opportunity be taken to wait on the Minister of Education during his coming visit to Palmerston North with regard to the installation of a dental clinic. The chairman stated that the committee had in hand £lB, for the general account and £3l for the special account. The Hockey club requested that the hockey ground be mown as soon as possible. It was decided that the work bo done before the first match of the season.
